Why so RACIST?

Just posted my film online recently and received some messages from a guy who intimidates me by saying if I don't delete my video on Youtube, he'll come and kill me. He keeps sending me messages and calling me asshole. Why is it so hard to be racial harmony!

The Bersih 2.0 rally (also called the Walk for Democracy) was held in Kuala Lumpur yesterday as a follow-up to the 2007 Bersih rally. The peaceful rally protesting government corruption and calling for a reform of the electoral system was deemed illegal by the current government and met with intimidation and violence by the police who prevented the huge crowd from walking up to the rally venue.

Brisbane based and Malaysian born Animator/Filmmaker Sen Wong decided to release his latest short film, Satay Satay a few days ago to mark the day of the rally and to give a voice to and promote ALL Malaysian filmmakers who also face tough restrictions under the current government. Sen’s film contains subtle messages promoting a more multicultural Malaysia and is purposely made accessible to all local ethnic groups with subtitles in English and Chinese. The Collision (2009) is a low budget short film which I directed back in Uni. Well, this film is actually just a mess and really a "Collision". I gathered lots of friends who were willing to work for free and we finally completed the entire film within a month time. This's certainly not a great film but it was a good practice for all of us.

Satay Satay (2009)

Satay Satay is selected and will be screened at the next Victoria Film Festival in Canada on the 6th Febuary 2010. This will be the first oversea premiere for Satay Satay. The Collision (2009)

The Collision has been nominated in Bohemian Outdoor Film Festival in Perth and will be screened at Fremantle city on the 6th Febuary 2010 as well. It's one of the top twelve Bohemian shorts. $3000 cash prize for Best Film and $500 prize for audience favourite. Well, fingers cross for The Collision. ;p

Is this the Poles Apart sequel?

A TV commercial is featuring a little panda bear traveling on Finnair's blue-and-white wings from Helsinki-Vantaa airport to New York, on to Paris and from there via the Helsinki Gateway to Asia and the beautiful river scenery of China. At the end, the film reveals that the whole adventure was actually the dream of the little toy panda sitting on the shelf in a child's room. When the panda wakes up, he gazes out at the starry night sky and sees a Finnair plane among the stars -- as he probably does each night.

Damn! I love it!

Poles Apart (2007) - The first animatic and concept

This is my graduate film Poles Apart (2007) in its very early stage. This animatic was done by me and Paul Lalo.
As you can see it's a huge difference between this animatic and the final edit.

Premiere of Satay Satay (2009)

After a year of intensive hard working, I've finally finished this short animated film. The screening of Heaven in a Wild Flower had premiered "Satay Satay" and the response from the audiences was excellent at that night.

I'm so proud of myself that I can be able to complete this film with the lack of SLEEP, MONEY & ENERGY. At the moment, I'm trying to push this film off the ground, sending it to festivals and finding distributors.

Screening of Heaven in a Wild Flower

Hi everyone,

Here is a short notice of "Heaven in a Wild Flower" screening on Friday 31st of July. "Heaven in a Wild Flower" is a film that portrayed a tragedy strikes a friendship between a young school girl (Anastasia Surrey) and a homeless man (Mungo McKay) when he is accused of committing a heinous crime. Director: Matt de Casanove.

My latest short films "Satay Satay (2009)" and "The Collision (2009)" will be premiering as part of the cast and crew screening of "Heaven in a Wild Flower". Well, my last short film "Poles Apart (2007)" will also be showing at that night. This will probably be the last cinema screening of "Poles Apart" as we are about to release it on the Web after a great run in festivals! Don't miss out to see Panda Pang Pang on the big HD screen.

Hi Guys,

Sorry that I haven't been uploading/updating for while because I'm quite busy on my presonal short film "Satay Satay" and also directing a 2D & 3D hybrid animation called "The Collision".

"Satay Satay" is on its way to completion. Only 4 more shots left to be animated and then I'll move on to compositing stage. Music is composed by Jimmy Ho who used to work with me in "Poles Apart (2007)". Sound design by David Williams. Both music and sound are in progress at the moment. Yeah, I can finally see the way to the end of the path...

About "The Collision", which is a short film that I work on with the co-operation of Jessie Goh (producer) and Kelsie Chan (producer + original story). Music by Jimmy Ho (Again! haha, he's too awesome. Just like why Steven Spielberg always uses John Williams' music and Tim Burton always has Johnny Depp in his movies.) Well, "The Collision" is actually completed but we can't post it out yet b'cos we wanna send it to competitions and festivals. Anyway, I'll talk about this more in the next post...

About what I'm watching lately? I'm recently watching a web animated clip called "Story from North America" which was created by Garrett Davis and Kirsten Lepore . I can not remember how many times I have been watching it thought. The song itself is just too catchy and the animation is so freaking funny. 3 words, "I love it" and I have decided to share with everyone who visits my blog. Please check it out their work.

VFX is normally been done in high tech softwares nowadays but how many people will still be doing handrawn VFX? I did all these VFX test in Flash and After Effects, combining the latest technology and my traditional skill. Here you go! The first SENimation website and also the first website I've ever done in my life.

Well, it took me a while to figure out how to create a website in Flash, fixing all the bugs and refining it. I haven't really finished the complete version yet but please enjoy what I have so far.

Firstly, SENimation.com is like my resume as a professional animator in order to get job flow.

Secondly, I always want to start my own animation studio, create my own cartoon, entertain people and deliver messages to the audience.

Introduction:

Hi all,

Detailing my internships for the honours degree at Griffith University would be a long story. I had completed four unpaid internships in 2008 but only one was officially accepted as my professional internship for completing my honours degree. This internship was at Smart and Sheared in Melbourne and it is the work I did there that I have recorded in a diary.

Originally I was supposed to work at Studio Moshi in Melbourne but time ran out for me due to massive delays on the studios side. The Moshi internship was no longer within my academy criteria and I needed to get back to Brisbane to finish my degree.

During the weeks of waiting for Studio Moshi I did not know what to do and I was wasting critical time. I asked Professor Andi Spark for advice. Andi suggested that I visit other studios in Melbourne, making connections and networking within the animation industry. She gave me a contact of her old work-mate Mark Sheard, who has an animation production studio based in Melbourne. Soon after that I rang up and made an appointment with Mark to visiting their studio.

11am, Wednesday, 27th November 2008

This is the day I first came for a visit at Smart and Sheard Productions (http://www.smartandsheard.com/). This nice little studio is run by Damian Smart and Mark Sheard. They are both experienced animators who previously worked for Disney. In 2007 they formed the partnership Smart and Sheard Productions, a company that produces original animated content for television and also designs websites and company identities.

Mark and Damian showed me around the studio and what they had been working on. I also met Brock Knowles, another member of staff at Smart and Sheard Productions. I showed them my demo reel and films. They were very impressed with my works, my passion and love for animation and film production. After that I told them about my situation in Melbourne and they said that I could do my internship with them instead of Studio Moshi. I accepted the offer and started attending my full-time unpaid internship at Smart and Sheard Productions from 1/12/2008 till 19/12/2008.

Dojo Monkey concept

This are those rough concepts that I did for Dojo Monky while I was at Moket. I did all the rough drawings (non-color one) before we started the actual production. However the original designs which are the colour version, were done by James Lee (Master Sensei, Baby Tang, Kickass Sensei and Jin the ninja) and Thomas Hamlyn-Harris (Dojo). The only colour version that I designed and vectorised, is the Judo (with the help of Anthony Cheung). I spent quite a long time to figure out the full turn around view of those characters because the original characters were designed for a mobile game purpose. Therefore I had to re-design the character model sheet which would be easier for later animation production needed.

The story is about a Panda who moves a long way from another place then lives in a Polar Bears' world. Non of the polar bears like him cos he's different with the others, different food type, different races, different looking Blah blah blah... Pang Pang tries to change himself to adapt this society but everyone ignores him, he has being billed through the whole film. In the end, Pang Pang finally has a chance to change this world. and then blah blah blah...... The End.

I dont think I have time to do the rest of it. I think the animation bible didn't really turn up good anyway, teachers didn't like it b'cos we didn't get good result in this assignment. Damn!!!
